Kelpman Liquid Kelp Fertilizer
Kelpman Liquid Kelp Fertilizer is a great addition to any sproutperson's grow kit. Made from the tips of Great Pacific Kelp, this fertilizer supplies additional micronutrients to your little plants to help them stay healthy and grow more quickly.
This fertilizer is a must if you are growing Micro-Greens using any soilless medium (like hemp felt or coconut coir).
You can also add Kelpman to your soak water, when soaking any sprouting seed. Simply mix 1 teaspoon per 1 quart of water (about a 200 to 1 dilution, which means one bottle will last you loads of harvests).
This is a concentrate. Strongly dilute with water and:
- Spray it on your plants
- Water your Micro-Greens and Grass with it
- Soak your Hemp Felt soilless medium in it prior to planting (if you like)
- Initially soak your sprouts with it (though we haven’t done so in years)
We’re sproutpeople, not kelp people—so please be sure to follow the dilution instructions on the bottle for best results!

Why did we switch to Kelpman?
We encountered some sourcing issues with our previous kelp fertilizer, which luckily led us to discover Kelpman’s wonderful product! Not only does it help our microgreens grow like crazy, but it also supports the sustainability and preservation of one of our planet’s most magnificent exosystems—kelp beds.
Great Pacific Kelp is the fastest growing kelp on the planet (growing up to 3 feet every day!). To make Kelpman fertilizer, divers hand-harvest the kelp tips only in late spring and again in early fall (to protect indigenous species). Just the actively growing portion of the plant (the top 6 to 12 feet) is harvested, to ensure the health of the kelp bed and its surrounding ecosystem is not impacted.
