Spelt Grass

About

This is one seed which we carry only occasionally as it is very hard to find good sprouting Spelt. A great alternative for those allergic to Wheat. Similar to other grasses in sweetness and nutritional value.

The hulling process is, generally too much for Spelt. Too many of the grains end up broken, and so only the part of the seed with the germ still on even has a chance to sprout. This isn't a big deal when it comes to sprouting, as the crop is harvested in just a couple days. But, since growing Grass requires so many days it just doesn't work unless the crop survived hulling well. We only offer Spelt for Grass when it can grow Grass. This year's crop is by far the best we've seen in years. Grow your Spelt Grass while we have it.

You need a special juicer to extract the nectar from this Grass - it is well worth the effort! Look on our Juicer page for more info.

Notes

It is very difficult to find Spelt in a quality suitable for Grass growing. But, our current seed does relatively well. When Spelt is not available, our advice is to stick with the grains that typically grow grass well: Wheat, Rye, Barley, Triticale, and, Oats.

Seed Shelf Life: 2 years. Store in cool, dark, dry spot. Store in freezer to extend shelf life.
