There isn't much to say about Alfalfa sprouts that you don't already know, but you know me - talk, talk, talk. Here in the U.S. everyone has had Alfalfa sprouts. For folks with a natural love of sprouts they are fine and dandy, but for others - they have been THE reason that people get to hating sprouts. Stuffed in sandwiches, strewn across salads or just garnishing a plate, these ubiquitous Leafy Sprouts are often texturally unpleasing and just plain bland. Though we prefer our gourmet mixes, we can say that homegrown Alfalfa Sprouts are something quite different than the usual fare. Their flavor is mild at most, but their texture is great when harvested fresh from your sprouter.

Crunchy and mild. Great in sandwiches, salads, or a as salad by itself!

  • It was interesting, something that you can learn from
It was interesting to read about. Something that you can learn about. Something that you can grow in your garden at home

Since I've gotten back into sprouting and got my own SproutMaster (used to borrow/share with roommate) I went with Alfalfa sprouts to grow first, and am not disappointed! They are so easy to grow in the SproutMaster and sooo good, I add them to EVERYTHING I eat!

I do have a question about greening though..your directions say "Greening On the 4th day relocate your sprouts if necessary. If you've been keeping them away from light, move them. Avoid direct sun - it can cook your sprouts. Indirect sunlight is best but virtually any light will do."
Does this mean to take the lid off of the tray as well, or just relocate to get more indirect sun hitting the tray? Thanks!

Sproutpeople Response: Remove the lid/cover. Most definitely

  • Best salads! My family loves them!
I had to buy 2 Easy Sprouters to keep up with the demand for one meal of salads for a family of 4. My kids, aged 10 & 12, love them, and always ask for more, but they were gone using one sprouted. We cut up an avocado (or 2) and mix with a ton of alfalfa sprouts and dress them with Italian salad dressing. Very delicious!

  • My family's favorite sprouts
I enjoy trying out various types of sprouts but my family always prefers alfalfa. Sprout People has the best alfalfa with very good germination rate!

  • So Good!
These have a really good germination rate, grow quickly, and have a flavor far superior to the sprouts at the grocery store. I'm definitely hooked!
